1. Richard Caddell

Richard Blake, a Welshman, was also known as Richard Caddell (or Cadell). He was also known as Richard Niger. In 1278 Richard Blake obtained a grant of the castle and lands of Kiltorroge, and the castle and four quarters of Ballimacroe (now Carnmore), in the Barony of Dunkellin, Claregalway, County Galway, Ireland. He was the common ancestor of all the families of Blake in Connaught, Ireland. He held the office of Portreeve of the town of Galway in 1290. He held the office of Sheriff of Connaught between 1303 and 1306.1 He held the office of Portreeve of the town of Galway in 1312. He purchased from Thomas de Hobrigge, the manor and lands of Kiltullagh, County Galway, Ireland, in 1315.
